Sustainability

Our expertise in environmental sustainability covers a huge range. At one end of the spectrum is Dunsfold Park in Surrey, on the site of a World War II aerodrome, and our proposals to transform it into Britain’s most sustainable settlement, achieving Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6. We demonstrated how the highest levels of sustainability can by achieved by designing environmental strategies into the masterplan itself, and by making use of innovative technologies tailor-made to the context of the scheme. Dunsfold Park was awarded the Francis Tibbalds Prize 2009 by the Urban Design Group in recognition of its contribution to urban design.

At the other end of the spectrum is our work on the Daneville Estate in Liverpool, where we carried out a large-scale refurbishment programme for 600 homes, substantially increasing their environmental performance.  The success of the scheme was recognised by the Homes and Communities Academy, which gave the Daneville Estate the Reducing Carbon Award in 2009.
