housing renewal

There will be increasing pressure in the future to consider the renewal of existing housing as a serious alternative to creating new homes. It is a cost effective way of meeting low carbon targets and of providing upgraded homes, and is essential in conservation areas.

PTEa’s expertise in refurbishment covers all these areas. We retrofitted 600 homes on the Daneville Estate in Liverpool to increase their environmental performance – and the success of the scheme was recognised by the Homes and Communities Academy, which gave the Daneville Estate the Reducing Carbon Award in 2009.

At the Old Royal Free Square we transformed a redundant Grade II listed hospital into a major public space and a thriving residential community. The project won a Europa Nostra Diploma of Merit, an RIBA Regional Housing Award and a Civic Trust Award.
