This scheme involved the refurbishment of offices occupying the basement, ground and first floor. The aim was to enhance the external appearance of the building and to improve its internal environment, particularly by introducing more natural light.
On ground-floor and basement levels the external façade cuts back to its structural elements. At basement level the structural columns are exposed and the offices flow under a new glass roof, while at ground floor level large glass windows are inserted between the columns. The existing light well is enclosed at basement level with a clear glass roof and luxcrete entrance and landing. These glazed elements introduce considerably more natural light into the extended basement and ground-floor offices.
