This is a new depot for Greenspace, who look after Islington’s parks.
We provided them with a two-storey pavilion, with workshops at ground level, and offices, mess room and changing rooms above, on the edge of an existing park - and our aim was to make it as discreet and elegant as possible.
We built it in new stock bricks to match the surrounding housing; we gave it a sedum roof to make it as invisible as possible from the neighbours’ homes; and we put in continuous strips of multicoloured panelling and glazing at both ground-floor and first-floor levels. The green roof and the colourful upper-floor glazing panel are just visible over the old brick wall which separates the depot from the park.
