Erith western gateway bexley

This is a scheme to regenerate the town centre of Erith with new homes, shops and offices. The aim is to reconnect a large and fragmented edge-of-centre site with the River Thames, station and town centre.

PTEa was appointed as joint masterplanners with Maccreanor Lavington to review a previous masterplan which had ceased to be viable because of the sudden change in economic conditions. We have produced an alternative masterplan which can be implemented in flexible stages and which requires minimal outlay on major infrastructure. It also replaces a high-rise, high-density proposal with a more human-scaled network of streets lined with houses, local shops and small blocks of flats.

The masterplan also transforms a neglected riverside park and uses subtle contouring to strengthen the flood defences without costly and intrusive engineering structures.
