Artesian House was the outcome of a competition launched by Southwark Council in 2001 to kick-start its ambitious plans to regenerate Bermondsey Spa. The concept for the scheme is to combine neighbourhood resources with a sustainable living environment: apartments sit over a holistic health centre with a green roof, and the complex includes a combined heat and power plant.
The building forms an urban edge to the boundary of the adjacent park, with a roofline which sweeps upwards from five to eight storeys.
