The completion of Belvedere Court marks the transformation of a rundown corner of a Hackney estate into a 21st-century urban space. On what was a brownfield site, littered with burnt-out cars and skips, the £6.5m regeneration scheme stands as a pioneering high density housing project with a spectacular street façade.
The site is close to the burgeoning live/work units around Kingsland Basin and is the first major affordable housing project in an area undergoing large scale urban renewal.
The scheme mixes 72 homes for social rent and shared ownership, designed so that the tenures would be hard to tell apart.
