Clifton House is an extra-care scheme for Clapham
Park Homes. The scheme consists of fifty extra-care
apartments designed to wheelchair standards which
will provide independent living for older and less able
residents, together with communal facilities. It also
features a community hub which will provide day care
facilities both for residents and for older people in the
wider community. This is combined with and cross-subsidised
by a residential development consisting of a
mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom flats, together with
family houses.
The community hub and associated café, which is also
open to the community, have a separate entrance to
allow for independent operation when necessary – it can
be closed off from the sheltered housing which forms
the rest of the accommodation.
Clifton House aims to create a development which
integrates the sheltered housing and the private
residential units into one community and to create
connections with the existing townscape surrounding
the site.
