happi housing our ageing population: panel for innovation

PTEa in partnership with Levitt Bernstein Architects recently won a bid to provide consultant support to an expert panel of influential figures on the future of housing for older people.

Our job has been to steer the government commission, chaired by Lord Best, through an inquiry tasked with considering ‘best practice’ and opportunities for design innovation. The aim is to guide government policy and ensure that future housing meets both the needs and aspirations of our ageing population.

The four month project has been underpinned by a strong research focus involving international study visits, stakeholder workshops and policy analysis, leading to a publication and a short film. In partnership with Design for Homes, we have been working for the Homes & Communities Agency, who are project managing the commission on behalf of the Department of Health and the Department of Communities & Local Government.
