junior open house

PTEa is strongly committed to community participation: we regard it as one of our core skills. The support and involvement of local people is vital to the success of many of the projects in which we are involved.

Our community involvement includes participation in the Junior Open House programme, which aims to introduce young people to London’s architectural legacy through making partnerships between schools and architects and which is funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Since 2004 we at PTEa have drawn on our experience to engage youngsters with the built environment through this programme, carrying out a series of projects in junior schools across London.

Our involvement has extended to projects with older senior-school children through the Open-Up programme and to work with a group of ‘looked after’ children, who often miss out on wider educational and non-curriculum activities.

PTEa’s contribution to both these programmes won our Associate Director Tricia Patel (pictured opposite) the Junior Open House Architectural Mentor award in 2006.
