Building on air: a daring and radical design which decks over a railway cutting to complete a historic Islington square. In 1993 Bill Thomas of PTEa bought a strip of land overlooking a railway cutting and conceived the idea of decking over the cutting, creating an acre of land on which to build 146 new homes in Islington. United House and Londonewcastle took over ownership in 2005.
